Dr. Wei Shao is an Assistant Professor of AI in Quantitative Health in the Department of Medicine and Assistant Director of AI Imaging Research at the Intelligent Critical Care Center (IC3) at the University of Florida. He also holds affiliate appointments in the Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Health Outcomes and Biomedical Informatics. Dr. Shao received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering and M.S. in Mathematics from the University of Iowa in 2019, where his research focused on mathematical modeling for medical image registration. From 2019 to 2022, he completed his postdoctoral fellowship in Deep Learning for Medical Imaging in the Department of Radiology at Stanford University. His research focuses on developing mathematical and deep learning frameworks for medical image analysis, with emphasis on 3D and 4D generative diffusion models, vision-language models, and agentic AI for precision health and intelligent clinical care.
